Man slashed by masked youth gang armed with machetes in Melbourne
A young man was ambushed outside a busy shopping centre in Melbourne's outer west by a group armed with machetes.
Chol Yai, a 21-year-old from Melton, was at the McDonald's near the corner of Exford and Elpis roads in Wier Views when a group of masked youths arrived in a black sedan about 5pm yesterday.
"The group of them come out of the car and start chasing him across the road," a witness told 9News.

"They ended up wrapping a T-shirt around his arm and a strap around the top of his arm as it was quite severe," a witness said.
Yai's mother Teresa recalled receiving the horrifying phone call that her son had been attacked.
"I'm fully stressed," she said.
"He's OK but he's not alright yet."

Yai was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition with stab wounds to his head, arm and back and has since come out of surgery.
Police believe the attack was targeted and it is understood the victim is not cooperating with officers.
The McDonald's was closed for three hours as police started their investigations.
Officers scoured the area for evidence as the attackers remain on the run.
Some nearby residents have said youth violence in the area has become all too common and are reconsidering living there.
"I'm not feeling safe at all, it's like America," one resident said.
