Man critically injured in stabbing in rural town west of the Sunshine Coast

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was found critically injured at a home west of the Sunshine Coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to a property on Alford Street in the rural town of Kingaroy about 12.30am over reports a man had suffered a cut to his neck.

A 42-year-old man was found at the scene with critical injuries.

He was taken to Kingaroy Hospital but has since been airlifted to Brisbane.

"It is understood another man, not known to the 42-year-old, left the scene prior to police arrival," police said.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has footage to come forward as investigations remain ongoing.
