The latest victim of a shooting in Sydney's south-west has been identified as police investigate links to the underworld drug war.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at Broughton Street in Canterbury at 2am, where they found Ferenc Stemler, also known as David, severely wounded in the middle of the road.
The 28-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene, though despite their efforts, he was soon pronounced dead.

Residents told the media they heard a series of gunshots early this morning before emergency services descended on the area.
"It's a really quiet neighbourhood, that's why we're in shock," a resident said.
"It was very quick.
"I was amazed at the speed of the shots, it was like, 'Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang' - gone, that's it," another resident said.
Detectives are urging anyone who was in the vicinity at roughly 2am today or has information or dashcam vision to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
A burnt-out car was found in Casula and police are investigating whether it was a possible getaway car.
Residents saw the potential shooters setting the car alight.
"I came running out and saw two fellas with a gerry can starting to douse the car," a resident said.

Police have now launched a taskforce to investigate the shootings, which they believe are all linked, dating back to the Bondi Junction execution of high-level bikie Alen Moradian in June.
