One man is critical following a crash while 'racing' in Melbourne as police hunt second driver
A man is fighting for his life in hospital after "racing" another car and crashing on a major Melbourne freeway overnight.
Police have been told two cars - a white Ford ute and a Toyota Camry - were seen travelling towards the city on the Monash Freeway in Mulgrave, weaving and changing lanes when the crash happened about 10.45pm yesterday.
The ute appeared to lose control before it crashed into the Springvale Road overpass and rolled, while the Camry it was racing did not stop and fled the scene.

The driver of the Ford was trapped for some time before he was freed from the car and taken to hospital by ambulance in a life-threatening condition.
His male passenger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Clanchy said both cars were driving at "excessive speed" and in a "reckless manner".
Police are urging the driver of the Camry sedan to come forward.
"We have good avenues of inquiry including dash cam footage - but I suggest that driver come forward at the earliest opportunity," Det Snr Sgt Clanchy said.

Witnesses told police the cars were weaving in-and-out of traffic together for kilometres, as far back as the EastLink overpass.
The cars were seen neck-and-neck between Wellington and Springvale Roads moments before the crash.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives closed the freeway between Springvale and Ferntree Gully roads this morning. It has now reopened after a 12-hour long clean up.
