Eastern Freeway Porsche driver Richard Pusey charged with multiple offences following late-night disturbance

Melbourne man Richard Pusey has been charged with a raft of offences following a three-hour standoff with police at his house last night.

Police this afternoon confirmed they had charged the 42-year-old with threatening to kill, false imprisonment, conduct endangering a person, common law assault, contravening a conduct condition of bail, committing an indictable offence while on bail, and using a phone to harass.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

Mr Pusey is also still facing charges in relation to the Eastern Freeway crash that killed four officers in April.

Police were called to a property in Fitzroy at 11.30pm yesterday, following reports of people yelling and windows being smashed inside.

The incident ended with specialist police smashing into the property and dragging Mr Pusey from the roof.

Police had tried to contact Mr Pusey but after no response, the Critical Incident Response Team forced entry to the home, where they found the 42-year-old on the roof.

As part of Mr Pusey's original bail conditions, he is required to answer the door to police at any time, but officers say when they arrived, he refused to let them in.

After negotiations, Mr Pusey was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.

There was a woman at the property at the time.

She was uninjured and is assisting police with inquiries. 

Detectives today searched the home and seized a number of bags of evidence before it was boarded up.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and whether or not Mr Pusey breached any of the conditions attached to his bail, which was granted in October.

Mr Pusey had been committed to stand trial on driving charges and one count of outraging public decency over allegations he used his mobile phone to film the aftermath of the Eastern Freeway crash which claimed the lives of four police officers.

Mr Pusey had been pulled over for allegedly speeding when a truck swerved into the emergency lane, killing the officers on April 22.

Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King and Constables Glen Humphris and Josh Prestney all died in the incident.

The driver of the truck that ploughed into the police officers, Mohinder Singh, pleaded guilty to culpable driving earlier this month.

Mr Pusey's bail was extended two weeks before Christmas and his next court date is scheduled for February.
