Man dead, another arrested, after deadly reported assault in Lake Macquarie shopping centre carpark
A 53-year-old man has been arrested after another man died in the carpark of a shopping centre carpark in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales.
At about 9.50am, police responded to reports of an assault in the carpark of a shopping centre along the Pacific Highway in Charlestown.
A man, whose identity is unknown, was found dead by emergency services.

Police have been told another man was seen running south along the Pacific Highway shortly after the incident.
Shortly after 1pm, a 53-year-old man was arrested when he attended Newcastle City Police Station.
Police will provide more details about the incident later this afternoon.
Anyone who may have information, or who was in the area at the time with any available dashcam or mobile phone footage, is urged to contact Belmont Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
