Former prison guard avoids jail after admitting to smuggling meth, inmate relationship
A former prison guard officer has avoided jail after admitting to smuggling methamphetamine into prison while having an affair with an inmate.
Amber Clavell was instead sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a two-year intensive correction order after a three-month sexual relationship with inmate Mark Kennedy at the Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre in Sydney's west.
The 25-year-old from Hassle Grove admitted to the drug charge, as well as accessing restricted data and misconduct in a public office, as she worked as a drug and alcohol counsellor.

The court heard that Clavell hid the meth in balloons stuffed inside her bra, which she then took into the prison to give to Kennedy.
The magistrate told the court her lack of professional qualifications was a contributing factor.
The court also heard that she had confided in former correctives colleague Jessica Elguindy, who is also serving a community sentence over a prison relationship.
