Anthony Albanese announces huge cabinet reshuffle ahead of federal election
Anthony Albanese has announced sweeping changes to his cabinet ahead of the federal election, promoting four women in a major ministries reshuffle.
The prime minister today announced expanded roles to three federal ministers to replace NDIS Minister Bill Shorten ahead of his departure from politics next month.
Albanese has recommended Amanda Rishworth as NDIS Minister, Katy Gallagher as Minister for Government Services and Dr Anne Aly as Minister Assisting the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The above positions will be in addition to Minister for Social Services Rishworth, Finance Minister Gallagher and Minister for Early Childhood Education Aly's existing ministerial roles.
Rishworth's newly-minted NDIS portfolio follows former Labor leader Shorten's resignation.
"I once again pay tribute to Bill Shorten for his decades of service and the tangible positive difference he's made to the lives of Australians all over the country and to the NDIS," Albanese said in a statement.

The NDIS minister will be stepping back in February after serving in his electorate since 2007, Albanese announced in Canberra last year.
Anika Wells, Minister for Aged Care and Sport, has also been promoted to the federal cabinet in the reshuffle.
Wells' promotion to the frontbench will result in an equal split of men and women for the first time.
