'Targeted' deadly shooting in Sydney potentially linked to Bondi murder

A targeted shooting in Sydney's south-west has left one man dead, with police investigating if it is linked to a gangland shooting in Bondi last year.

Bol Deng, 20, was found on Stella Street in Fairfield Heights at 8.30am today. Deng was found unresponsive on the footpath, police said.

NSW Ambulance treated him for gunshot wounds, but he was declared dead at the scene.

"The male is known to us, his history and other associations will form part of the investigation going forward," Detective Superintendent Michael Mclean said.

"We're satisfied that the shooting is targeted. And we'll conduct our further inquiries in respect to any links to other crimes, throughout the day," he added.

The brother of the victim, Dut Deng, was charged with the shooting death of underworld figure Alen Moradian, in a Bondi Junction car park in June last year, leading police to believe the shooting today was a targeted attack.

Multiple shots were fired from a dark-coloured sedan before it drove off, Mclean also alleged.

Moradian had close links to the Commanchero bikies, police said.

Seven men have been charged over his killing so far.

A burnt-out car was found in Guilford West a short time after the shooting, which police believe could be the getaway car.

Witnesses told 9News that they heard the gunshots ring out early this morning.

A crime scene has been established and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
