Escapee nabbed on Christmas Eve after month on the run

A man who escaped from custody in November will spend Christmas behind bars after being recaptured.

Robert John Bamblett, 35, had been on the run since escaping from a transport van on the Newell Highway, north of West Wyalong, on November 5.

He allegedly tried to leg it from police when he was spotted on a Dubbo street on Thursday, but he was caught soon after and charged.

He is due to appear at Dubbo Local Court today.
