Emirates axes popular Australian route after nearly 30 years
Emirates has axed a popular route between Australia and Asia after nearly 30 years.
The international airline is no longer offering flights between Melbourne and Singapore after operating two non-stop daily flights for decades.
Emirates flights between Singapore and Victoria's capital will officially cease on March 30, 2025.

Impacted customers who have booked flights on Emirates' Melbourne-Singapore route will be offered alternative options or a full refund.
Emirates has flown Melbourne passengers to Singapore and back on the eight-hour flight since 1996.
Instead, the airline will now offer customers a third non-stop service between Melbourne and Dubai.

"The third daily non-stop flight also means customers have more convenient schedules and choice, with unrivalled connectivity and travel options via Dubai to 27 European cities served with multiple daily flights including London, Paris, and Frankfurt," Emirates said in a statement.
Emirates said it has also reinstated its second Perth service from December 1.
Now back at pre-pandemic capacity, the airline operates 77 weekly flights into Dubai out of Australian capital cities Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
