A chemical explosion has sparked a massive factory fire in an industrial area of Derrimut in Melbourne's west.
More than 50 fire trucks have rushed to battle the out-of-control blaze.
The fire is sending plumes of toxic black smoke stretching for kilometres over Melbourne's west.
The toxic fumes can be seen rising high into the air over Derrimut before spreading out across nearby suburbs.
Residents in the following suburbs have been told to shelter inside immediately: Albion, Braybrook, Brooklyn, Derrimut, Laverton North, Sunshine, Sunshine West, Tottenham and Truganina.
A fence buckles under the force of the blaze as it burns through the large factory, which is understood to house large quantities of toxic chemicals.
A man died in a factory fire on the same street in Derrimut in October last year.
