These are the social media apps Australians want to delete off their phone the most
Everyone who owns a phone knows the periodic vows we make to delete certain social media apps.
From Facebook to Instagram to the pesky dating apps filling up storage on our smartphones, thousands of people have an itch to erase apps and start afresh.
But there are a few popular apps we'd like to delete the most here in Australia, according to new research.
Secondhand phone retailer Mobile Federation analysed Google searches in Australia to find which ones we want off our home screen for good.
Read on to see the top 10.
10. Tinder
The popular dating app Tinder is used by millions of Australians, but of course, it's the app made to be deleted.
And as it turns out, it's 10th on the list.
There's an average of 2402 monthly searches for deleting Tinder in Australia, according to the data.
"According to a government report released in June this year, more than a third of Australians spend over five hours per day on their mobile phones, so it is no surprise many are looking to reduce their screen time by uninstalling these time-consuming apps," said Mobile Federation chief executive Shing Phang.
"The majority of the apps Australians want to delete are social media apps, suggesting that for many people, social media is no longer an enjoyable experience for many."
9. Spotify
It's not exactly a social media app, but Spotify seems to still have some foes.
Just pipping Tinder at the post, 2427 people search about deleting the music streaming platform every month in Australia.
8. X (Twitter)
X (formerly Twitter) became a controversial platform after Tesla billionaire Elon Musk bought it in 2022.
He changed the name to X and now it looks like 2859 people in Australia want to know how to erase it from their phone every month.
7. LinkedIn
Professional networking platform LinkedIn ranked in 7th place among Aussies.
There's an average of 2995 monthly searches for how to wipe this app from our phones.
6. Gmail
Gmail, owned by Google, is one of the most popular email platforms in the world.
Aussies don't seem to enjoy having emails pinging on their phone every few minutes, so the Gmail app has made the list at number six.
Mobile Federation found there is an average of 3475 monthly searches for deleting it.
5. Google
Rounding out the top five is the Google app itself, with 5336 searches related to deleting it.
The fifth most searched-for term in Australia is 'delete Google account,' with a monthly average of 2593 Google searches, according to the data.
