Health bosses issue COVID-19 warning for New Year

State health bosses have warned people to take precautions against COVID-19 this New Year's Eve.

While the pandemic rules might have long gone, NSW is asking people to celebrate outside, avoid sharing plates and wash hands to "keep loved ones safe".

The week before Christmas NSW Health figures showed COVID-19 cases at '"high levels and continuing to increase".

The numbers of people with Flu and RSV were low it said in the report for the fortnight up to December 16.

Children and adults up to the age of 49 were among the high rates of people with COVID-19, it said.

Sewage identified Bondi and Liverpool as particular hotspots.

Australians' Christmas 2020, 2021 and were both celebrated under lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions.
