Eighteen more lives lost to COVID-19 across Australia

Eighteen more people have died with COVID-19 across Australia.

The figure is down from the more than 30 deaths recorded nationally yesterday.

Reported case numbers of COVID-19 have dropped over the last 24 hours across the country, after a reduction in reported testing numbers for some states and territories.

New South Wales

In NSW, there were 8891 new cases reported and six new deaths.

There are now 1504 people being treated in hospital with COVID-19, 57 of whom are in intensive care.

The number of new cases is down from the 11,671 cases reported yesterday.

Victoria

In Victoria, there were 8744 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths.

Currently, 491 patients are in Victorian hospitals with the virus, with 38 in ICU and eight ventilated.

Yesterday, Victoria recorded 9365 new cases.

The sunshine state reported 4673 new cases and two new deaths today.

There are now 426 people in hospital with the virus and 12 in ICU.

Western Australia

Over in Western Australia, there were 8747 cases of COVID-19 reported today and one death.

There are 281 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 8 in ICU.

South Australia

South Australia has reported five COVID-related deaths and 2788 new cases of the virus.

There is a total of 21,386 active cases, according to the state's health department.

There are 214 people in hospital with COVID-19, nine of whom are in intensive care units and one who is on a ventilator.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has recorded 223 new cases of the virus.

There are currently 38 patients in hospital, with seven requiring oxygen and no patients in ICU.

Australian Capital Territory

The ACT reported 778 new cases of COVID-19, including 422 positive PCR tests and 366 positive rapid antigen tests.

There are 76 people with COVID-19 in hospital including six people in intensive care and one on a ventilator.

The territory did not report any new deaths.

There were 733 new cases of COVID-19 in Tasmania.

Forty-three people with COVID-19 are in hospital with one person in intensive care.
