Two Sydney schools closed after coronavirus cases diagnosed in students

Two Sydney schools are closed today after several students were diagnosed with COVID-19.

A 10-year-old student at Lidcombe Public School in the city's west and two Year 7 students at Kincoppal-Rose Bay School in the Eastern Suburbs both have the virus.

Close contacts of the Lidcombe student, have been told to self-isolate for two weeks.

The Rose Bay case is linked to the city's Tattersalls Club cluster.  Staff, parents and students have been notified, that school said in a statement on social media.

State health authorities identified 10 new cases of coronavirus yesterday, including four returned travellers now in quarantine, three linked to Sydney's growing CBD cluster, one a contact of a previously-reported case and two under investigation with no known source.

While NSW case numbers have stayed low, the mystery cases were enough to justify the state government's decision to keep nursing homes closed off from visitors on Father's Day, yesterday.

"We've found that the video calls are really powerful… in this season we just really have to embrace technology and I think the residents have really embraced it as well," Indigo Francis from Anglicare Warrina told 9News.

Last night, health authorities issued a warning for an inner Sydney medical centre after the site was exposed to positive coronavirus cases.

Two positive cases attended the Hyde Park Medical Centre on the ground floor of 175 Liverpool Street in Sydney's CBD between Monday, August 24 and September 5.

In addition to the medical clinic, NSW Health is assessing potential exposure to the virus at the physiotherapy, pathology, dermatology, dental practices and pharmacy, all on the ground floor of the building.

Anyone who worked at these locations between August 24 to date is being told to immediately get tested for COVID-19 and isolate until they receive a negative result.

"Patients who are considered close contacts will be contacted by NSW Health and advised to get tested for COVID-19 and isolate for 14 days after their last date of visit," NSW Health said in a statement.

"Anyone who visited the premises should be alert and get tested for COVID-19 if they have even the slightest symptoms, and isolate until a negative result is received."
