Water pipeline ruptures in Sydney, sending wall of water into nearby homes
A water pipeline has burst in Sydney's south, smashing nearby homes with rushing water.
The pipeline in Como, near Engadine, burst at 1pm today flooding nearby homes in Binya Place and Inelgah Road.
The pipeline connects to Woronora Dam which supplies water to Sutherland, Cronulla, Engadine, Heathcote, Helensburgh and Stanwell Park.

The Bunch family told 9News part of their roof had collapsed and their belongings had been destroyed by the wall of water.
"It was pretty terrifying," Michelle Bunch said.
"Went to check that everything was OK down there, came back up and it was hitting our house.
"It was smacking against the windows, we thought they were going to smash apart.
"They evacuated us straight away because the power was popping."
They have been forced out of their home and will need to find alternative accommodation for the night.

Residents reported a hissing sound to Sydney Water at 7am before the pipe exploded. Nine
Sydney Water has apologised for the rupture.
"Network technicians were on site assessing a leak on the main when it burst," a spokesperson from Sydney Water said.
"Crews have isolated the main and repairs are underway.
"Customer advocates are on site working with impacted customers and assessing the damage.
"Sydney Water apologises for the inconvenience caused to our customers."
Residents reported a hissing sound to Sydney Water at 6am before the pipe exploded.
Sydney Water went to the site and seemingly fixed the hissing at 7.30am.
Once the pipe had ruptured, water was spraying all directions for two hours.
