Christmas tree growers expecting bumper sales this festive season
Christmas tree growers are gearing up for a bumper month as shoppers eye the perfect addition to the festive season.
Dural Christmas Tree Farm in Sydney's north-west is expecting to sell 600 trees in the first few days of December, as customers continue the tradition despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Tree farmer Leo Demasi said he's keeping his prices the same as last year in the spirit of Christmas, despite the cost of production increasing by 30 per cent.

"The fertilisers have gone up, the sprays have gone up," Demasi said.
"I'm just going to incur the cost, wear the cost this year, don't hurt the people as they're hurting already.
"They're delivering happiness, that's what It's about."

One excited customer told 9News that purchasing a Christmas tree was a holiday tradition.
"It's a pretty much close your eyes and pay the bill which is how we treat it," he said.
"Christmas just wouldn't be the same without it."

In Sydney's Inner West, tree lovers got into Merlino's Christmas Trees early to pick from this year's best.
"I've been here in the big line before. I had a moment today, so I thought I'd come in early," shop regular Lee told 9News.
This year's crops fared much better than the failed season of 2022, a blessing for tree farmers across the Sydney area.
"They copped a little bit of root rot, but it does come out pretty easily and the top of the tree because it's been so good has rejuvenated and come good again," farmer Ross Merlino told 9News.
