Calls for changes to working holiday visas

Longer working holiday visas for people in northern Australia should be rolled out country-wide, the tourism industry says.

From Saturday, holders of two types of visas - subclass 417 and 462 - will be allowed to stay for up to 12 months instead of the usual six if they work in the country's north.

"If it's good enough to implement in the Top End, it's good enough to be rolled out across the entire country," Margy Osmond, chief executive of the Tourism and Transport Forum Australia, said in a statement on Friday.
