Police are investigating after a woman was badly hurt in a bus crash in Brisbane CBD this morning.

The pedestrian, in her 20's, was crossing Adelaide Street near Edward Street at 8am when she was struck by a Fortitude Valley bound bus.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she is receiving ongoing treatment.

“It looks like inattention. The pedestrian stepped out onto the roadway as the bus was pulling into the bus stop,” Inspector Matt Ryan told 9NEWS.

Witnesses said the woman was hit by one of the front wheels and was pinned under it for a short time.

It is the second accident involving a pedestrian and a bus in Brisbane’s CBD in less than a month. A 52-year-old woman was hit and killed by a bus a few weeks ago less than two kilometres from Adelaide Street.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
