Man dies after being swept off rocks

A man has died after being found face down in the surf at Sydney’s Bondi Beach this morning.

At about 11.45am emergency crews were called to the southern end of the beach after the man, aged in his 40s, was seen floating in the water.

According to police, the man was rock fishing before he fell in. He was not wearing a life jacket.

A support helicopter was on scene and ambulance crews worked on the unconscious man who went into cardiac arrest according to a NSW Ambulance spokesman.

Paramedics transported him to St Vincents Hospital where it is believed his condition stabilised, but he has since died.

The tragedy comes just two days after a family of six were swept out in a current at an unpatrolled beach north of Coffs Harbour.

Two men died at the Moonee Beach location on Monday evening and a search was called off this afternoon for a third man feared drowned.

Earlier today, a 70-year-old surfer tragically drowned on a popular Gold coast beach this morning.
