Body of missing Indian swimmer discovered near Port Macquarie

The body of the man swept out to sea north of Coffs Harbour in an horrific family drowning incident has been found.

Following an extensive search operation, authorities located the body of Junaid Mohd Abdul near Port Macquarie after he went missing from Moonee Beach on Monday night.

Police, Polair, Marine Rescue volunteers and the Westpac rescue chopper have all been searching for the 28-year-old since he went missing from the unpatrolled beach just after 6pm.

He had been swimming with five other family members when they were caught in a strong current and swept hundreds of metres out to sea.

Two men, aged 35 and 45 were pulled unconscious from the water and could not be resuscitated.

Two girls, aged 13 and 17 and a 15-year-old boy were also rescued unharmed.

The group had been visiting with other family members on holiday from India.
