ABC apologises for radio silence as services are restored

The ABC has apologised to listeners after they woke up to more than two hours of dead air on the flagship show Radio National as services are restored.

The broadcast went silent shortly after 8am (AEDT) on the radio, online and on the ABC Listen app.

In an updated statement, the national broadcaster said it has identified the issue and services are beginning to be restored across all platforms.

The ABC did not say what the issue was.

Earlier this morning, the ABC apologised to listeners and said it was working to resolve the matter.

"The ABC is aware of an issue which began after 8:00am AEDT this morning and is impacting Radio National and other audio services on broadcast and streaming services including ABC listen," an ABC spokesperson told 9news.com.au.

"The ABC apologises for any inconvenience caused and we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
