The flashy entrepreneur known as "Lambo Guy" has rejected suggestions that news of a recent break-in at his $40 million penthouse was a publicity stunt.

"It's definitely not a set-up. I've got better things to do," Adrian Portelli told A Current Affair.

Portelli said he was sent a video of two males inside the unfinished property, which is 57 floors above Melbourne's CBD.

"The fact that there's people wandering around the building who shouldn't be there is concerning for everyone," Portelli added.

He believes that the pair gained access through a lift shaft.

Victoria Police confirmed they were investigating a "trespass incident".

"It is understood two male offenders gained access to a residence between 11pm on Sunday 25 and 2am on Monday 26 August," a police spokesperson said.

The video shows the two males examining Portelli's $3 million McLaren sports car, which is kept inside the penthouse.

"Boys, if you want to try and steal a car don't try and steal one that's 57 floors up," Portelli said.

But for the entrepreneur, building security is no laughing matter.

"It's not a good feeling. When you spend so much money on a place, it's meant to have security," he said.

The 35-year-old has also found fame on TV hit The Block after purchasing $12 million worth of property during last year's televised auction.

Police are investigating a trespass incident at a residential building in Melbourne's CBD between 11pm on Sunday 25 and 2am on Monday 26 August.

It is understood two male offenders gained access to a residence on the corner of Exhibition Street and La Trobe Street and filmed videos, which were later posted onto social media.

No one was inside the property at the time, and it is not believed anything was stolen at this stage.

Officers have spoken to the owner and attended the property as they continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident and a similar one last month.
