Where Australia sits among the 20 happiest countries in the world
The World Happiness Report has once again revealed the happiest countries on the planet, with some surprise movers and shakers.
The report makes use of Gallup data to track how citizens around the world feel about their neighbours, leaders, and lives, for an overall life evaluation score out of 10.
Here's the top 20 countries where people are happiest.
20. Czech Republic
The Czech Republic's happiness level lifted slightly, for a three year average of 6.775.
19. Slovenia
Slovenia's happiness level rose to 6.792.
18. Canada
Canada's happiness level dropped slightly to 6.803, but unlike it's neighbout the US (24) it remained in the top 20.
17. Austria
Austria's happiness dipped slightly to 6.81.
16. Lithuania
Lithuania saw a significant happiness boost of more than 1.4, to 6.829.
15. Ireland
The Irish ranked 15th with a happiness level of 6.889.
14. Belgium
Belgians rated their collective happiness level at 6.910.
13. Switzerland
The Swiss are a bit less happy than in 2024, dropping their three-year average to 6.935.
12. New Zealand
Our neighbours across the Tasman are feeling fairly perky about things with an average of 6.952.
