World's most dangerous fireworks festival held

One of the world's most dangerous firework festivals, where attendees require body armour, has been held in Taiwan – and unbelievably remained injury-free.

Video of the explosive event shows locals rammed into a main street in Tainan City as bright firecrackers explode around them.

All those gathered on the streets are equipped with motorcycle helmets and perplex shields.

A few fearless motorcycle riders managed to speed through a shower of sparkles as the fireworks rained down around them.

The celebration is held at the end of Chinese New Year and is intended to ward off evil spirits and provide good luck to those who stand in the path of the rockets.
