Women survive terrifying close call on railroad bridge

Police in the US say they are baffled after two women survived being run over by a freight train on a railroad bridge in Indiana.

Footage from a camera mounted on the train shows the women sitting on the tracks before seeing the train and getting up to run.

The driver reportedly spotted the women on the bridge and immediately applied the emergency brake.

Unable to make it to the end of the bridge in time, the women lie down in the middle of the tracks just before the train passes over them.

Police were called and were amazed to discover the pair had run from the scene unhurt, before leaving in a nearby car.

A railroad employee happened to catch the license plate of the car and handed it over to police, according to the Daily Mail.

The women could face charges of trespassing on the bridge, which is private railroad property.
