Kim Jong Un given USB outlining peace dividend

Kim Jong Un was handed a USB with a blueprint for transforming North Korea’s economy by his South Korean counterpart at their historic summit.

The USB was presented to Kim after he crossed the heavily guarded DMZ into South Korea by Moon Jae-in last month for the leaders’ historic meeting at the border village of Panmunjom.

It contained an e-book and presentation on the ‘New Economic Map of the Korean Peninsula’, Business Insider reports.

The map outlines how economic cooperation between the communist North Korea and the capitalist South could work across the key sectors of energy, transport and tourism.

The blueprint also sets out how an inter-Korean rail line could connect to Europe, Russia and China.

They are also regarded as an incentive for Kim to keep to the Panmunjom Declaration – calling for peaceful relations - signed at the DMZ between the two leaders during their meeting.

The Korea JoongAng Daily quoted a South Korean official as saying the USB also contained "information related to a power plant".

The potential economic benefits of cooperation also bolster hopes of peace between North Korea and the US.

Kim is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump next month – reportedly in Singapore, with denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula high on the agenda.

North Korean citizens widely rely on smuggled USBs to watch banned content including western movies and also world news.

Defectors from the totalitarian state have stated the content triggered their decision to flee.
