Police searching for duo after man shot in Perth

Police are searching for two men after another man was shot in Perth on Sunday morning.

Police were alerted to gunshots at an address on Owen Place in Hamilton Hill, about 23km south-west of the CBD, about 4.35am on Sunday.

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

WA Police detective Brian Connelly said the man was with another person at the time of the shooting.

“It was a very short incident in duration, it was over in a matter of seconds,” Connelly said.

A member of the public called police and stopped to give the man first aid.

Police believe two men dressed in all black clothing were involved in the shooting.

Locals were told to stay away from the area and residents were asked to lock their doors and windows and stay inside.

A significant police presence remains in the area.

Connelly said police strongly suspect the men were known to each other.

“Police are confident that this was an isolated incident and there is currently no concern for the safety of the members of the public,” Connelly said.

“I don’t want to go into the specifics of our enquiries but we’re confident in saying that this is a targeted attack at one individual and we’re treating it as such.”

Police have urged the public not to approach the men and to call police immediately.

“Anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles or people in Owen Place, Carter Way or Forrest Road at around 4am to 5am this morning are urged to contact crime stoppers,” Connelly said.
