US man could be jailed for stealing spoon

A US man could face jail after he was allegedly busted stealing a $1.60 spoon from a Walmart store in Florida.

The theft of the spoon is classified as a petty theft, but Gregg Lerner, 46, has been charged with a felony given he has two prior convictions.

"The defendant advised that he did steal the spoon, for he needed one to eat his Captain Crunch (cereal) with," the police report states.

The arrest was made at 11pm on Thursday.

Lerner is now behind bars in the county jail on a $2000 bond.
