Man appears to walk on water while crossing frozen lake

Stones, pebbles and rippled sand can be seen in perfect clarity on the bed of a frozen lake as a man walks metres above it.

In a video, shot on Lake Huron, by Gary Johnson, of Greenbush, Michigan, the man appears to walk in the air with the crystal-clear frozen lake water invisible apart from the occasional patch of frost.

Lake Huron, which is situated about 320 km north of Detroit and stretches into Canada, is one of the five Great Lakes of North America, and the third largest freshwater lake in the world.

Mr Johnson's dog can be heard barking in the background as he strolls across the glasslike expanse.
