Jeep driver escapes tow truck

A driver in the US has made a dramatic escape from a tow truck after literally being picked up for parking in a restricted zone.

The incident, which was captured on camera, shows a Jeep with its back wheels aloft, ready to be towed.

The uploader, filming from his apartment, says it is common to see cars getting towed from in front of his home in River North, Chicago – but less common for the vehicle to be towed with the driver still inside.

The driver of the white jeep can be seen looking back at the tow truck through the window, before making what looks like a snap decision and starting the car.

He slams on the accelerator and the wheels spin inside the brackets, before the jeep jerks forward and slams down on the road.

The car bounces on its shock absorbers before the Jeep speeds off down the street, ripping a left hand turn at the intersection in front of another car.
