Donald Trump’s behaviour immediately following a group photo at the G7 has raised more questions about the president’s health.

After a group photo with world leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron gestured with his thumb in the direction the politicians should walk.

Instead, Trump patted him on the arm and started shuffling in the other direction.

“The other side, the other side,” others can be heard saying as Trump started walking to the wrong side of the platform.

Trump then stops and changes direction.

As other world leaders chatted and laughed with each other, Trump did not interact with anyone else as he walked away.

Whether it was the result of tense conversations during the G7 summit or if his mind was on other things, the president did not seem in the mood to be sociable.

The president’s health has been in the spotlight during his second term, especially after his 80th birthday on the weekend.

Drawing attention today was a thick layer of makeup on his right hand.

The Washington Post reported that during his latest medical checkup, Trump was assessed by 22 specialists.

“It is an extraordinary number,” the Post quoted former Vice President Dick Cheney’s cardiologist as saying.

“What specialties do they represent? Why so many?”

The 22 specialists are a record number for a presidential checkup, though only two more than Joe Biden saw in 2024.

But it is far more than previous presidents have seen. George W Bush saw 12 specialists. His father George HW Bush saw just five.

Trump has a habit of falling asleep at public events, including during last week’s NBA playoff game at Madison Square Garden.

Fans were incredulous the president could doze off during a high-stakes event in a stadium full of raucously loud spectators.

Earlier this month he nodded off at an Oval Office event as he was in arm’s reach of people speaking to him.

He appeared to fall asleep at a similar event in May.

While Trump typically tends to leave global summits as soon as he can, he will stay in France to attend a dinner at Versailles.

He was invited to the palace for a one-on-one dinner with Macron.

“I’m a fan of beautiful places, and I was leaving in the afternoon, and then the French president, who happens to be a very nice man, invited me to dinner at Versailles,” Trump said.

“And Versailles is not gold leaf — Versailles is the real deal. And I said I’d like to do it.”

Trump told reporters the unplanned dinner will not impact his schedule.

“I’m not a big sleeper anyway,” he said.

A short trip from Paris, Versailles is an opulent palace that came to represent how French royals lived in extraordinary luxury before the revolution.
