Delivery driver caught 'bowling' $14,000 package out door

A deliver driver in the US has been caught on camera rolling a package worth $14,000 out the door.

The Long Island UPS courier "bowled" the large box, which was marked "fragile", out the door of East Hills Instruments and across the lawn to he truck parked at the curb, WABC News reports.

East Hills Instruments owner Ray Martel said he checked his company's security cameras on Monday after a receptionist told him the package was not handled with care

"This guy just basically threw the thing out of the door," Mr Martel told WABC.

"And when I look at the video, all of a sudden I'm shocked, I see him push this box across the floor and then proceed to bowl it across the lawn on to the street."

The package contained a sophisticated US$12,000 (A$13,600) nitrogen calibration system, which the driver was warned was delicate.

UPS has issued an apology for the driver's actions.

"UPS does not condone this specific driver's behaviour," the company said in a statement.

"We are investigating this issue and will take corrective action with this driver.

"We have also apologised to the driver."
