US intelligence appears to confirm Russia supplied missile system in Ukraine

Officials in the United States of America have reportedly confirmed that the missile launchers used to shoot down MH17 were supplied by the Russian government.

The Washington Post reported that US government intelligence has established that the sophisticated Buk missile launch system believed to be used in Friday morning’s attack had been shipped to the eastern Ukraine from Russia.

The newspaper quotes a well-placed source, who claims that the US government had been given indications “a little more than a week ago” that Russian missile launchers had been moved into Ukraine.

The report comes after Ukrainian counterintelligence chief Vitaly Nayda said that his government had evidence that three Buk M-1 antiaircraft systems had been transported from the disputed territory into Russia less than 12 hours after MH17 was shot down.

Representatives from Russia and the breakaway Donetsk People’s Republic have denied suggestions they were involved in the attack.
