Woman 'pulls swan from water to take a selfie, leaves it for dead'

A Bulgarian tourist has become one of the most hated women on the internet after she allegedly dragged a swan from a lake to pose for a selfie and then left it to die.

Photos show the woman, who is yet to be identified, dragging the swan by its wing on the shore of Lake Ohrid in south-western Macedonia.

Despite the swan looking distressed and fighting to get away, the woman is smiling for the camera.

Witnesses told Macedonia Online the animal lay on the beach after the woman left it and it later died.

The witnesses said the swan initially did not react when the woman approached it because the animals there are tame and used to tourists.

The incident comes just weeks after beachgoers in Argentina made international headlines for allegedly pulling a baby dolphin out of the sea to take photos with it.

A man present on the beach later claimed the dolphin was already dead.
