A West African migrant has been found curled up under the hood of an old Mercedes being driven from Morocco into Spain.

Police said they found the man, along with another hidden behind the backseat, during a customs check at El Tarajal in the Spanish territory of Cueta, BBC News reports.

The man under the hood managed to squeeze himself into a tiny space behind the engine of the Mercedes 300 but in front of the dashboard.

The two men, both from Guinea, received first aid due to lack of oxygen in their hiding spots, the Guarda Civil police said.

It is not known how long the pair had been in their respective hiding places for.

Cueta is located right near the Moroccan border, and a popular place for sub-Saharan Africans to enter Spain and the European Union.

Police detained the two Moroccan men in the car, which had false number plates.

The two men did not have any papers and are being investigated.
