Crashing motorcyclist chooses cliff over car

A reckless motorcycle has made the split second decision between colliding head-on with a car, or flying at high speed off a 12m cliff.

The unnamed rider filmed himself speeding his Kawasaki ZX6R down the A537 Cat 'n' Fiddle in England's north, often cited as the most dangerous road in the UK.

He is seen racing along the windy road, overtaking other riders across double white lines.

Eventually he takes a corner too fast and veers into the path of an oncoming silver hatchback.

In an instant he's faced with deciding the lesser of two evils: smash head-on into the car or try his luck off-road and plunging over the steep slope.

He pulls away just in time and flips over a wire fence, before tumbling down the hill.

The entire accident is captured on a camera attached to his helmet and shows him scaling his way back up the cliff to the fence, where the bike had come to a stop.

The rider, who escaped unharmed, posted the video to YouTube last week.
