Kate to present first Tour yellow jersey

The Duchess of Cambridge is to present the first yellow jersey of the 2014 Tour de France in Harrogate.

Kate, Prince William's wife, will watch the stage on Saturday alongside her husband and brother-in-law Prince Harry.

The royals will be present at Westwood Hall, just outside Leeds, for the official 'Grand Depart' before attending the podium ceremony where the first wearer of this year's yellow jersey will be known.

British sprint king Mark Cavendish is one of the hot favourites to claim that jersey in the town where his mother was born.

The first stage is a 190.5km loop through the Yorkshire Dales, starting in Leeds and finishing in Harrogate.
