Human tower comes crashing down

Watching people of all shapes and sizes deftly climb on top of each other to form a human tower is undoubtedly captivating but the moment that sticks in people's mind is when it all goes wrong.

Spectators collectively gasped as a human tower came undone and plummeted to the ground in spectacular fashion at Spain's Vilafranca on Saturday.

Onlookers cheered and whistled as a group of small children began to scale the human tower using participants' shoulders, limbs and oversized belts to reach the peak.

Everything appeared to be going well but as a small child tried to descend from the summit of three-storey high tower the whole thing come tumbling down.

The tower quickly buckled and bodies rained down on the crowded street as the fallen piled on top of each other.

The breath-taking chain reaction appears to have been triggered by a child pulling down another kid in their hasty effort to get back down after reaching the top.

It is unclear if anyone was seriously injured in the fall.
