Actress Emma Watson is facing an immigration probe over claims her US housekeeper was working for her illegally in the UK.
Immigration officials are investigating allegations Watson’s housekeeper continued to work for her while in London on a tourist visa, which prohibits foreign citizens from working in the UK.
The woman was stopped by UK immigration staff who questioned how she planned to fund her stay in Britain, The Independent reports.
Border Agency officials are now investigating following a complaint she was paid to work for the Harry Potter actress at her home in Islington over three months between September and February.
Watson has been living in the US where she just recently graduated from Brown University with an English literature degree.
She could face fines of up to $US17,000 ($18,000) if authorities find her housekeeper was employed in the UK without a proper work visa.
