A mystery, high-profile BBC presenter who allegedly paid an underaged colleague for explicit images has now been accused by a second young person of sending threatening messages.

According to the BBC's own reports, the broadcaster has viewed messages sent from the male presenter's phone to a second person, who then posted online that they may expose the identity due to feeling frightened.

Though there is no suggestion the second young person, aged in their 20s, has any connection with the first, or received payment for any explicit imagery, they have claimed to have received "expletive-filled abuse".

It's understood the two initially connected on a dating app, with the younger person claiming to have resisted pressure to meet up in person.

They claimed to have felt "scared" by "the power the presenter held".

Angered by the refusal to meet, the presenter then allegedly sent abusive messages via text.

The individual has spoken to BBC News, but they have not currently made a complaint to the BBC corporate investigations unit, which is looking into the allegations.

Earlier this week it was revealed the BBC had suspended a leading presenter who is accused of paying a teenager for sexually explicit photos.

As senior British politicians urged a rapid investigation, the broadcaster said it was working to establish the facts of "a complex and fast-moving set of circumstances".

The UK's publicly funded national broadcaster was scrambling to head off a worsening crisis after The Sun newspaper reported allegations the male presenter gave a youth £35,000 ($67,000) starting in 2020 when the young person was 17.
