TV host bravely carries on as earthquake shakes studio

Smiling nervously and holding back tears, a Bangladeshi TV show host bravely carried on reporting as an earthquake struck, while her interviewee fled in fear.

The Ekushey ETV presenter was interviewing a woman in the network's Dhaka studio on Saturday when the devastating quake that has killed more than 2000 people in neighbouring Nepal hit.

Footage of the live broadcast shows the host breathe deeply and smile nervously as she feels the first tremors which jolt the camera.

Another camera then cuts to her guest, who appears frozen in terror.

With a quivering voice the host asks a question but the guest lets it linger the air.

As the tremors continue and yelling can be heard off camera the host valiantly continues to address the audience as her guest takes off without saying a word.

The presenter fights to maintain her composure and smiles as she chokes back tears before the program comes to an abrupt end.

The death toll from the massive earthquake that devastated parts of Nepal on Saturday has reportedly passed 2000 people including one Australian.

The quake has also devastated hundreds of structures, including a landmark nine-storey tower that has been destroyed in Kathmandu.

There was panic in parts of Bangladesh with 30 workers at a Dhaka textile factory reportedly injured in a frantic rush to get out of their factory after the initial tremors.
