Turkish Airlines flight forced to land in Ireland after bomb threat

A Turkish Airlines flight has made an emergency landing in Ireland after bomb threat.
Flight TK34 took of from Houston in the US state of Texas on Saturday evening and was to land in Istanbul in Turkey on Sunday, but it was diverted after the crew found a written note on board the aircraft.
It is understood the note said "bomb" and was found in a toilet.
The pilot issued a Pan-Pan distress call and requested permission to dump fuel in the sea so the flight would be able to get its weight down to land safely.
The Boeing 777 landed safely at Shannon Airport, outside of Limerick, on Sunday morning and all 209 passengers safely disembarked the plane.
Nothing was found in the search of the aircraft in Shannon, a Turkish Airlines spokesman said, adding that the plane would take off again to Istanbul.
"The incident is now the subject of a follow up investigation from an Garda Siochana (Irish police)," he said.
Turkish Airlines has been targeted with a series of hoax bomb warnings over the past year.
