Toddler 'pulled from bomb rubble in Syria'

Emotional video has emerged of a small boy being pulled from the rubble of his home after it was flattened by an air strike in Syria.

The footage which began circulating on social media yesterday claims to have been filmed in the Bab al Nairab district of Aleppo, where Syrian barrel bombs are reported to have killed 10 people.

In the graphic scenes, the boy screams as rescuers haul the his dust-strewn and bloodied frame to safety.

"Rescuing baby from under rubble in Bab al Nairab, God is the greatest," a man is overheard shouting in Arabic.

Although the video has been picked up by local news outlets, it is yet to be independently verified.

According to the reports, the footage came on the same day the Syrian army conducted an airstrike in the historic district, once home to one of the main gates to Aleppo dating from the 13^th century.

Once Syria's commercial capital, a now rebel-held Aleppo is the site of regular bombing by government forces seeking to push out Islamic State insurgents who have enforced their own strict version of Sharia law.

The civil war in Syria which began as a peaceful street uprising against four decades of Assad family rule is now in its fourth year and has claimed more than 170,000 lives.
