Terror police called to Westminster after white powder delivery

UK Counter Terrorism police have been called to London’s Houses of Parliament after a letter containing white powder was delivered to Westminster.

Police said the letter was delivered at around 11.30am (10.30pm AEDT) on Tuesday and is being assessed by specialists.

A heavy police presence was reported near a ministerial corridor in the House of Commons, where some government ministers have their offices.

However, parliament is in recess this week so most MPs are not on the grounds.

Only the corridor was closed and the Houses of Parliament was not placed on lockdown, and visitor tours remained underway.
