South Korea shows off its 'Iron Wave' artillery

A flyover video showing South Korea’s ‘Iron Wave’ of armoured tanks has sent a stern message to its communist neighbours in the north.

The impressive footage of the Republic of Korea Army was released on Friday and shows the 20th Mechanized Infantry Division's thousand strong arsenal, including hundreds of heavily armoured tanks.

In the years since the Korean War, the south has continued to bolster and brandish its military resources as a form of deterrence to North Korea and now features up to 2,500 tanks.

North Korea over the years has tried its hand at similar forms of intimidating tactics, many which have turned out to be fake. However the communist nation's ordnance are clearly no match for the heavily-fortified south when backed by the country’s long standing ties with the United States.

Last month North Korea claims it successfully tested a missile delivery system that would allow it send a nuclear weapon the US east coast. Experts have expressed their scepticism of the claims.
