'Man, it was on': US fishermen reel in 4m Great White shark
Fishermen on a US charter boat have snagged more than they bargained for when a four-metre Great White shark caught the line.
The men, who had hired a charter boat in South Florida, had been fishing for three hours on New Year's Day without any bites when Simon Asnes hooked the roughly 450kg predator.
"The rod tweaked over, and man it was on," Bobby Diaz from charter company Fishing Headquarters in South Florida said.
The group was initially unsure exactly what they had on the end of their line - until it emerged out of the water. CNN
It took the fishermen 80 minutes to reel in the huge beast. CNN
He said had never seen anything like it in a decade of operating fishing charters in the region.
It took the group about 80 minutes of combined effort to reel in the shark close enough to tag and measure.
"We didn't know what it was going to be, but when we finally laid eyes on it, it was like seeing a unicorn," one of the fishermen, Josh Bieber, said.

Even the group's most seasoned fishermen were blown away by their catch. CNN
"We were all just blown away."
They then released the ocean giant back into the sea.
"I've never started a year like this one, that's for sure," Mr Bieber said.
