A simple self-portrait drawn by a seven-year-old boy shortly before his tragic death has gone viral, with people around the world sharing the picture to pay tribute to the youngster.

Local celebrities have now begun sharing photos of themselves with the image drawn by Calder Jacob Sloan, nicknamed "Mr Awesome" by his family.

Calder was electrocuted by a faulty light while swimming in his family's pool in Florida on April 13, just a week after his seventh birthday.

Since then, an image he drew a month before his death is now travelling the world in the hands of those keen to make Calder live on in spirit.

"Calder was special with a true morality beyond his years," an obituary written by his mother read.

"A day didn't go by that he didn't worry or have concern for someone."

Social media users are also tweeting photos of themselves with the pencil-drawn image, while the Miami Seaquarium is considering naming a dolphin "Awesome" in his memory.

Miami Heat NBA star Chris Bosh and Florida senator Bill Nelson are among those posing with the picture.

Calder was reportedly an avid fan of the Miami Heat.
