Terror tram ride for trapped Russian man

A Russian man was lucky to escape with only minor injuries after he was dragged 500 metres by a tram after getting his foot caught.

The man had just left a tram at a station in the southeastern city of Saratov when his leg became entangled in the door and the tram departed, dragging him along the ground.

A dashcam video taken from a car travelling alongside the suburban tram track and posted on YouTube shows the man’s horrific ordeal.

It begins showing a small cloud of dust behind the moving tram but then zooms in to show the figure of a man whose arms are flailing, but with no hope of freeing himself.

Moments later a stunned onlooker raises an arm in alarm but can do nothing to help.

Local media reported the tram driver did not see the man become trapped.

According to friends of the man, he was taken to hospital to be treated for skin damage to his face, hands and fingers and some ligament injuries.
